Porter's Plantation - SOLD, Worcestershire - Nearly 19 acres, £125,000

Porter's Plantation - SOLD

Porter's Plantation represents a great opportunity to enjoy and conserve an attractive self-contained woodland of mature deciduous trees that form an important haven for the abundant local wildlife in an area of mixed land use.

This woodland has already been recognised as an important feature of the landscape and as such is covered by a tree preservation order to protect the magnificent specimens of oak and beech that dominate here.

Once inside the confines of Porter's Plantation there is little sign of the human activity from the surrounding countryside. The still and calm of the wood feels like a different world where natural kingdom prevails. Roe deer browse freely in the thicket and bustling bird-life fills the air with movement and song where rich autumnal copper and gold reflect the sunlight from falling leaves.

Elsewhere within the wood there is evidence of a previous sporting use where a small pheasant rearing enclosure remains and the streaking dash of the brightly coloured cock pheasant catches the eye before making its noisy ascent. Also notable is the distinctive hollow of a former pond that in the right conditions could once again be a draw for the many species that relish this habitat.

The trees here are made up of large oak, beech, ash and alder. There is a useful cleared track that runs though open ground along the tree line parallel with the south western boundary. This provides excellent access into the woodland along its length.

Nearby Evesham was founded after a local swineherd Eof saw a vision of the Virgin Mary and an abbey was built at the site by Egwin, third Bishop of Worcester in recognition of this. Nowadays the town has grown to become a thriving hub and a regional centre for market gardening due to the fertile soil of the Vale of Evesham.

These details were prepared by local manager Daniel Sharp.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Directions

From junction 9 of the M5 take the A46 east, following signs for Evesham. After 10 miles there is a roundabout with Evesham United Football Club on your left and a petrol station. Bear right here on the A46 for a further mile until the next roundabout and turn right into Vale Park. Proceed straight over the first roundabout along Millennium Way and then left at the T junction and at the end of this road onto Enterprise Way. After only 50 metres take the first right and continue into open countryside. After a few hundred metres the tarmac road gives way to a country track and you will see the treeline of Porter's Plantation ahead of you. The track leads to the entrance gate where you will see the Woodlands.co.uk 'For Sale' board. There is plenty of space here to park by the gate and access the woodland on foot to explore.
