Post Horn Wood - SOLD, Hampshire - About 3 ¼ acres, £49,000

Post Horn Wood - SOLD
Post Horn Wood - SOLD
Hampshire

Attractive mixed woodland with with a useful shelter and hard standing.

Post Horn Wood has plenty of scope to be enjoyed as a mature, secluded woodland environment; to escape to nature or to engage more fully in long term woodland management with selective replanting of native broadleaf species. Either approach allows for the continued appreciation of this wood as a place where nature can thrive and be protected.

Access into the wood is via an established track leading through an area of hazel coppice, oak and birch whereupon the remains of a former woodland store and shelter are sited in a clearing screened by the dense foliage of rhododendron and mature conifer. This useful structure and hard standing area, although long since abandoned, could, with a little renovation provide a woodland shelter from which to further explore the numerous possibilities that this wood offers a new owner and a base for woodland crafts and forestry projects. It should however be noted that this woodland is available for conservation and enjoyment as woodland and that there is no development possibility for anything other than forestry use.

The wood lies at the edge of the historic village of Rotherwick, and is named after Post Horn Lane (originally Postern) The name of the village is thought to derive from the Old English “hryther + wic” meaning cattle enclosure and throughout the centuries has been through several incarnations including Retherwic and Rutherwyk.

The village offers a friendly welcome at the village pubs if staying overnight to complete a woodland project. Hook is only a couple of minutes drive and for more specialist woodland tools and supplies. Basingstoke and the motorway network is within easy reach in this most accessible yet peaceful woodland location.

These details were prepared by local manager Daniel Sharp.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
