Round Hill Wood, Gloucestershire - About 4 ¾ acres, £65,000

Round Hill Wood
Round Hill Wood
Gloucestershire

A very private mixed woodland accessed from the end of a newly renovated forestry track, where wildlife can flourish in this peaceful enclave surrounded by open farmland.

Round Hill Wood, although connected at its southern boundary to neighbouring woodland, is surrounded in the most part by open farmland like the jutting prow of a mighty woodland ship into a vast ocean of green fields. From this commanding, elevated position a stunning panorama unfolds before the visitor to Round Hill Wood and provides a truly spectacular place to camp and spend time enjoying this woodland.

This orientation also allows the penetration of sunlight from east and west; encouraging the growth of rich ground flora, yet at the same time providing accessible cover for foraging woodland mammals to venture into the adjacent open fields under the cover of darkness. This sense of self containment is further enhanced by the well defined ditches that run along these field boundaries and keep the woodland floor so well drained.

Once within the shelter of Round Hill Wood there is an appealing mix of sycamore, oak, hazel and holy in addition to Douglas fir. The sauntering woodland deer and wild boar have created distinct pathways through the undergrowth and it is easy to wander amongst the mature trees to appreciate the peace of this unspoiled natural environment.

It should be noted that for those prospective owners in search of a larger area, that additional neighbouring woodland is also available.

Beyond Round Hill Wood the natural beauty of the surrounding area draws many visitors. The Wood is named after Round Hill, a natural local feature to the north east. Numerous walking trails cross the county including The Gloucestershire Way which runs along the foot of Round Hill, and Offa's Dyke Path.

The nearby Wye Valley offers a chance to enjoy the scenery from the water and the historic city of Gloucester provides all the facilities necessary for a comfortable camping experience or to begin the journey of managing your own wood.

These particulars and plans were prepared by local manager Daniel Sharp.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
