Squabbling Ravens Wood, Devon - Over 2 ½ acres, £32,000

Squabbling Ravens Wood

Squabbling Ravens Wood was established at the turn of the century and has been well managed and maintained since. It has rapidly formed to become an attractive and versatile woodland for both amenity and forestry uses.

Along the front edge of the woodland is a fringe of conifer that provides shelter and privacy. In the heart of the woodlanda variety of mixed broadleaved trees have been planted that include ash and oak.

Access from the A30 is easy via a quiet country lane. From the main woodland gate at the highway there is a stoned forestry track that is wide enough to take a campervan. Internally there are generous rides which also act as a sunny glade for wildlife. A large clearing to the north of the woodland entrance provides an ideal location for family camping.

The woodland is an excellent habitat for flora and fauna and the peacefulness of the area is only broken by the songs of birds such as long-tailed tits. As the woodland name suggests, this is a great place to spot birds in the corvidae family including jays, crows and the majestic raven (Corvus corax). Common ravens can live up to 21 years in the wild and mate for life. So if you see a pair of Raven's 'squabbling' over the woodland it is probably no more than a domestic disagreement!

Deep in the heart of the wood you will find a bench, do take some time to sit and relax here whilst visiting. Fine views of Dartmoor can be seen in the distance.

Squabbling Ravens Wood is a perfect place to access all of the amazing locations of Dartmoor National Park including Yes Tor, Meldon Reservoir and the nearby Lydford Gorge.

It is also ideally located to access the north Devon coast around the seaside town of Bude including the surfing beaches of Widemouth Bay and Crooklets Beach.

Particulars and plans were prepared by our local manager, Stuart Brooking.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
