Summers Wood - SOLD, Devon - Nearly 2 ½ acres, £29,000

Summers Wood - SOLD

Summers Wood is situated on the upper valley of one of the ridgeways of East Devon, just north of the attractive coastal village of Branscombe with its rugged Jurrasic coastline and beach. The woodland is accessed by a forest track through other areas of private woodland. This takes you to an opening with an impressive large veteran oak tree. Here there is ample parking and an area, shared by other adjoining woodland owners only, an ideal place for picnics and family fun days.

Summers Wood has a post and rail fence along the boundary with a ride-stop to access the upper reaches of the woodland. In the spring this whole area is bursting with bluebells. Beyond the ride- stop entrance you will find a track that heads down to the left to a wooden bench. This is a the perfect place to sit and take in the atmosphere and watch the wildlife. Venturing further down the woodland are some active badger setts. If you sit quietly here towards dusk you have a good chance of catching a glance of these secretive creatures.

Other features of the woodland are some impressive veteran oak trees along the south western boundary. A good shared track gives access to the north eastern side of the woodland where there is a second car parking area and where an attractive small stream can be found.

What better way to spend long summer days in your woodland, exploring and watching the wildlife, or setting up a camping area to enjoy a barbeque. Summers Wood is set quite close to the A3052 giving good access. This road is an old ridgeway road, like many roads in East Devon, and the current metalled highway is only the latest surface of a track that historically would have started as cart wheel ruts and hoof prints.

Summers Wood is ideally located within a few miles of the stunning coastline around Seaton and Sidmouth , a World Heritage Site of 95 miles of Jurassic coastline that begins at the nearby Orcombe Point. Please do enjoy your visit to Summers Wood, but take care of any undulating ground or trip hazards as well as standing or leaning deadwood which has been left as a wildlife habitat.

Particulars and plans were prepared by our local manager, Stuart Brooking.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
