Trow Hall Wood - SOLD, Devon - Over 3 ½ acres, £39,000

Trow Hall Wood - SOLD

Trow Hall Wood is an accessible and generally open mature woodland with a desirable mixture of tree species. These include some good sized Douglas fir trees planted in 1971 alongside Sitka Spruce planted in 1986 that have been well looked after and cleared underneath. There is also a fine area of mature broadleaved trees that include towering old oak trees, ash, birch and hazel.

There is potential for small scale timber production or a long term supply of firewood for personal use. The hazel trees could be coppiced to give a sustainable supply of pea sticks, hurdle material and firewood. The purchaser could even invest in a small charcoal kiln to produce their own charcoal, enough to supply a few family and friends!

Trow Hall Wood is set near the top of a peaceful valley that has good access from the A3052 via a stoned track. The woodland is within an easy drive or a more adventurous walk of the coastal village of Branscombe allowing plenty of opportunities to explore the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

The quietness of the woodland and the surrounding forest and meadows provides good habitat for a number of woodland mammals and birds. Bird species include woodpeckers, tree creepers, nuthatches and the faithful robin. Badgers frequent the woodland from a nearby sett and foxes hunt for food at dawn and dusk. Butterflies enjoy the open glades in the broadleaved woodland section.

The name Trow Hall Wood is a local place name and could be derived from the old word treow meaning "Tree”.

Please do enjoy your visit to Trow Hall Wood, but take care of any undulating ground or trip hazards as well as standing or leaning deadwood which has been left as a wildlife habitat.

Particulars and plans were prepared by our local manager, Stuart Brooking.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
