Williamson Wood - SOLD, Devon - Over 1 acre, £17,000

Williamson Wood - SOLD

Williamson Wood is named after Henry Williamson, author of the famous wildlife novel 'Tarka the Otter' published in 1927. It is a tale partly of the beauty of this part of Devon and the simple existence of living along the River Taw. This idyllic woodland hideaway located so close to the river Taw would fall within the area described in the book.

This is such an amazing place to enjoy nature from the attractive sounds of the river to spotting wildlife such as otter, roe deer and badgers. Numerous species of birds fill the air with their chatter at dawn and dusk, whilst after dark the familiar sound of owls entertain.

The southern edge of the woodland has a useful large level area with fine views making it an ideal location for small scale woodland hobbies such as green wood working, charcoal burning or family camping. This area is large enough to allow a camper van or even a medium sized motor home to access private off road parking within the woodland.

Williamson Wood has the additional attraction of a separate shared picnic area located on the banks of the river Taw to the north east of the woodland. This unique area is for private use of the purchasers of this Wood and a few neighbouring woodland owners only. A local fishing club issue day licenses for fishing in the river Taw.

There are plenty of quiet country lanes to walk and cycle around including the Tarka trail, a walk designed to follow the areas featured in Henry Williamson's book. The local area has numerous traditional small towns. Crediton is within a short drive.

Please view Williamson Wood with care, the topography of woodland can be undulating so be aware to avoid slips, trips and falls.

Particulars and plans were prepared by our local manager, Stuart Brooking.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
