Bedstone Wood - SOLD, Shropshire - 13 acres, £69,000

Bedstone Wood - SOLD

Bedstone Wood is set high up on Bucknell Hill. From the top of the woodland there are stunning views of the surrounding wooded valley that stretch towards Knighton and beyond into Wales.

Some of the tree species that are growing here include oak, ash, hazel, rowan, silver birch and holly. It would be possible to further diversify Bedstone Wood by introducing new and varied tree species. One tree species that grows well in this area is walnut.

There is a track that runs the lengh of Bedstone Wood that also forms the northern boundary. Near the end of the track a large clearing has been created that could be used as a base for woodland activities such as making firewood, green wood working and camping.

At the highest point of the woodland, towards the eastern boundary there is a small area of meadow land that is kept well grazed by the local rabbits. In this part of the woodland there are panoramic views of the surrounding countryside that is designated as an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Other wildlife that have been seen and heard here are fox, owl, badger, pheasant, woodpecker, buzzard and red kite. Bucknell Hill is a Shropshire Wildlife Trust local wildlife site, and they have recorded the range of species found here.

Historically Bedstone Wood was part of a much larger estate that was owned and managed by B & J Davies, a company founded in the late 1800s, and which played a huge role in the British timber industry .

Nearby is the village of Bucknell. Approximately 5 miles away there is the market town of Knighton which is renowned for its connection to Offa's Dyke

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
