Ellerton Wood - SOLD, Shropshire - 6 acres, £49,000

Ellerton Wood - SOLD

This woodland has very good access, with a shared, stoned parking and timber stacking area just off the side of the road. There is a wooden gate marking the start of Ellerton Wood with an oak sign labelling it.

At the gate to Ellerton wood there is a path that leads to a large natural clearing. The clearing is very level which makes it ideal for camping and any other woodland activities. Within the clearing, there is a long rustic bench which allows for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Surrounding the clearing there is a mixture of trees and ground vegetation which is inhabited by a variety of wildlife. The clearing is secluded which provides privacy amongst the peace and quiet. Other activities which could be carried out here could include green woodworking and coppicing.

The trees in this woodland are very well spaced. This provides a very open feel and encourages exploration into the woodland, because it makes it much more accessible.

Willow, rowan, oak, silver birch, holly and a number of mature oak trees can be found here. However, due to the large areas of open space in this woodland, there is a great deal of potential to plant different species of trees to further diversify the area. Introducing other native broadleaf trees to this woodland could attract new wildlife to the area.

The ground vegetation mainly consists of a variety of ferns and brackens and small tree saplings. Along the western boundary there are patches of bluebells.

The wildlife which has be found here includes deer, fox, rabbit, badger and pheasant. There are numerous signs of fallow deer and family groups can often be seen wandering through the wood. Different species of birds are also found in this wood, such as woodcock, buzzard, sparrow hawk, owl, woodpecker, jay and songbirds. However, there is always the possibility to discover more.

This woodland is exceedingly close to the town of Newport and roughly 13 miles away from Telford. Nearby there is the Lilleshall Abbey ruins and the Aqualate Mere National Nature Reserve.

Note: despite the name of this woodland area - "Puleston Common" - this is not common land, and there is no right of public access.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
