Linley Wood, Shropshire - 9 ½ acres, £59,000

Linley Wood

Linley wood is a mixed woodland which contains a variety of coniferous and broadleaf tree species.

The entrance to Linley Wood is marked by a rustic ride stop which has been crafted from timber within the woodland. After the ride stop, there is a path which stretches through to the heart of the woodland. The path can be followed to a large level clearing.

The level clearing has potential for camping and other woodland activities, whilst also being secluded and private. Within the clearing, there is a rustic bench which is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the surrounding scenery.

Some of the species of tree which can be found include conifers such as sitka spruce, western hemlock and scots pine, and broadleaves including silver birch, willow, rowan and holly. Some of the ground fauna include bilberry, primrose, heather and a large variety of mosses and ferns.

This woodland provides an insight into the wildlife of the area. There are signs of muntjac deer in Linley Wood, along with wood pigeon, jay, buzzard, woodpecker, raven, red kite, and a variety of songbirds. Exploration of this area would almost certainly lead to the discovery of other wildlife. For instance, there is a water course which stretches through some of Linley wood and will certainly be inhabited by various amphibian species.

There are several natural clearings in this wood, providing an opportunity for the land to be further developed and diversified through planting and introducing new tree and plant species which would further contribute to the biodiversity of Linley Wood.

In the local area there are many walks around the Shropshire hills and places to visit such as the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve that has stunning views of the surrounding rolling countryside. Another popular attraction is ‘The Bog’ which was originally a mining community that produced lead and barytes until the early 20th century.

The actual stiperstones that can be seen from the wood is the second highest ridge in the county which sits just over 500 metres above sea level. Both the Stiperstones and 'The Devils Chair' feature in local myth and folklore.

Not far from the woodland there is a local shop and fine pub called the Stiperstones Inn, and Bishops Castle and Shrewsbury are within easy reach for all local amenities.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
