Sambrook Wood - SOLD, Shropshire - About 6¾ acres, £65,000

Sambrook Wood - SOLD

Sambrook wood is a broadleaf woodland with great biodiversity. There are many native tree species here, as well as a great diversity of wildlife and plants.

The access to this woodland is ideal. From a large, shared, parking and timber stacking area at the entrance a wooden gate with a sign marked ‘Sambrook Wood’ opens to the woodland.

Once through the gate, a wide path can be followed through the wood. This path meanders between the mature oak trees until an extensive level clearing is reached. The natural clearing is oval in shape and contains some mature oak trees. Scattered in the clearing are also small oak saplings. Within the clearing, there is a bench which is ideal for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. On the outskirts of the clearing there is a mix of plants and trees. Due to the size of the clearing, this area is perfect for camping, green woodworking or using as a base for woodland activities.

There is a diverse mix of broadleaf trees present at Sambrook Wood, including willow, rowan, oak, silver birch and holly. Due to the wide spacing of these trees, there is a great deal of potential to further enhance the biodiversity of the woodland by using the space to plant more native broadleaf trees.

The spacing of the trees also makes this woodland much more accessible. The open feel of this woodland goes on to encourage exploration into Sambrook Wood.

The ground vegetation mainly consists of a variety of bracken and ferns with other plants establishing throughout.

The animals which are present here include fallow deer, fox, rabbit, badger and pheasant. Different species of birds are also found in this wood, such as woodcock, buzzard, sparrow hawk, owl, woodpecker, jay and songbirds: this woodland would be excellent for watching wildlife.

This woodland is a stone's throw from Newport and 13 miles from Telford. Nearby there is the Lilleshall Abbey ruins and the Aqualate Mere National Nature Reserve.

Note: despite the name of this woodland area - "Puleston Common" - this is not common land, and there is no right of public access.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
