Elwick Wood - SOLD, County Durham - Almost 9 acres, £58,500

Elwick Wood - SOLD
Elwick Wood - SOLD
County Durham

A quiet and secluded broadleaved woodland located in a sheltered valley with views over Close Beck, which runs nearby.

Elwick Wood has easy access from both the A1 and the A19 and a very good solid track leading to it. With its peaceful setting, it is an ideal bolt-hole in which to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and unwind amongst nature.

The ten acre wood is generously carpeted with dogs’ mercury, ferns, celandine and anemones and is comprised of deciduous trees including sycamore, oak, beech, elm and some ash, along with some coppiced hazel stools dotted through, that all contribute to make this a very attractive woodland with an ancient feel. The trees are straight grown and tall, with plenty of useful timber for craft projects and firewood.

Arable farmland borders the northern edge of Elwick Wood and it is adjoined by woodland on the other three sides. There are some flat areas, particularly on the higher ground to the north, ideally suited to occasional camping or other woodland activities.

As to be expected of such a diverse deciduous woodland, wildlife is prolific. Deer pass through on their way to drink at Close Beck, along with foxes and birdlife contributes too. The chattering of garden and woodland birds is a lovely soundtrack to this peaceful location.

Full sporting rights are included.
