Bryn Aeron - Berry Hill - SOLD, Ceredigion - Over 4 acres, £29,000

Bryn Aeron - Berry Hill - SOLD
Bryn Aeron - Berry Hill - SOLD
Ceredigion

Set high on a ridge with stunning easterly views, a woodland with areas of established mixed broadleaf and open areas with potential for additional planting.

The sweeping views and feeling of seclusion of Bryn Aeron are a tonic. The woodland is located on the summit of a north south ridge with a large area of open plateau in its eastern half, clearfelled within the last four years, which starts to gently slope away to its eastern boundary.

This area is thick with various grasses, and healthy natural regeneration of Douglas fir, larch, birch, beech, oak and many wildflowers. Myrtle with its blueblack berries can also be found here. There is a requirement to restock this section of Bryn Aeron with conifer but with a considered approach it should be possible to agree a variation to this with NRW (Natural Resources Wales), to restock with native broadleaf, especially in view of NRW's drive to create more biodiverse and resilient woodlands.

The western side of the wood slopes away more steeply, providing shelter, and here there is a lovely stand of beech and oak interspersed with the occasional conifer towards the northern boundary. Underfoot are various mosses and the trees bear lichens, indicators of the cleanest air.

The entrance to the wood is down at its south western corner, marked by a ride stop and wooden name board. A fairly steep track takes you up into the woodland and ends in a turning circle. From here the remains of an old forestry track continues, providing foot or four wheel drive access onwards towards the northern boundary of Bryn Aeron.

The access from the gated entrance off the public road consists of a recently upgraded stoned track which is shared access with other woodland owners.

Both Aberystwyth and Machynlleth are within easy reach and both have good independent shops, cafes and restaurants and will cater for all supplies, both practical and pleasurable.

Just north of Mach is the fascinating Centre for Alternative Technology, so ahead of its time they were once thought of as a bit bonkers...! If only everyone had been so forward thinking.

Of course, much closer in Talybont, are the Black Lion Hotel and the White Lion pub, for recuperation after a hard day's forestry.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
