Coed Ceinciog (Gnarly Wood), Carmarthenshire - Almost 4 acres, £25,000

Coed Ceinciog (Gnarly Wood)

The approach to Coed Ceinciog (Gnarly Wood) is across the high plateau of hills midway between Carmarthen and Cardigan, with sweeping views to either side across open fields.

Turning into the woodland there is an immediate feeling of peace and quiet and seclusion. Coed Ceinciog is to be found immediately on the right as the track turns south and enters the woods. Flanked on the north side by open fields, its western boundary is a good sized stream, a tributary of the Afon Asen, which has cut itself a deep gulley through the woodland. It should be possible to cut steps down to the stream to enable easier access.

The planting is a mix of young broadleaf for the majority of the land, interspersed with some mature sycamore and oak and some evidence of previous coppicing.

Along the southern boundary which is shared with adjacent privately owned woodland there is a thick stand of sitka spruce. Some thinning here would provide a valuable timber resource for building projects within the woodland, constructing shelters or decking or storage, as well as opening up clearings for camping and bringing more light for wildflowers and insect life to the wood.

Rustic fencing and a small gate mark the entrance to the wood, and there is room for parking, either a standard vehicle or perhaps a camper van at the trackside. It would be quite possible for the woodland owner to enlarge the gate to accommodate a camper van within the woodland if it was wished.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
