Coed Cwm, Carmarthenshire - Over 3 acres, £21,000

Coed Cwm

Coed Cwm is made up of several differing habitat areas. Its northern boundary runs along a small vigorous stream which in turn runs along a minor road. Bordering the stream and extending the full width of the woodland is a lovely boggy area, providing a sustaining environment for all manner of insect, bird and mammal life as well as interesting plant species and offering ample opportunities to start wildlife projects.

The majority of the woodland consists of conifer. It is well grown and over time has been well managed and thinned, so there is plenty of space to make your way around Coed Cwm. Underfoot, the ground slopes away fairly gently from the southern boundary down towards the central area of the wood, where it levels off somewhat before the ground merges into the area of wetland. The level areas provide ideal opportunities for family camping in the clear glades while the thickets provide ideal cover for wildlife. In this area there is the beginnings of a hexagonal structure built from timber taken from the wood. There is potential to complete this as a shelter, tool store or a hide for spotting birds and wildlife. Or perhaps a woodland sauna!

The forest track, forming the southern boundary of the wood and a little too soft in places for vehicle access which has allowed wildflowers including oxalis, campion and here and there bluebell to flourish where the break in the forest canopy allows sunlight through to the woodland floor.

The purchasers of the wood will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of the woods.
