Coed Cwmere - SOLD, Ceredigion - 3½ acres, £29,000

Coed Cwmere - SOLD
Coed Cwmere - SOLD
Ceredigion

Magical west Walian woodland, easily accessible with wild mountain stream and some lovely mature broadleaf.

If you're looking for a woodland you can spend hours tramping around, getting lost in, Coed Cwmere is not the wood for you. At only three and a bit acres, of which at least half is a fairly steep slope, the walking options in it are not extensive.

But, and it's a big but, what it can't provide in the way of hikes, it more than makes up for in magic! And if you're brave, swimming...

With its own direct gated access off a quiet road, its very easy to get into with any vehicle and there is space to park up a camper van here.

Tucked away in this river valley, sheltered on the northern side by a rocky bank entwined with the roots of mature oak and ash which shelter you from the outside world and provide a canopy of green through spring and summer, all you can hear is the rushing of the water. An expanse of flat ground, wide enough to camp on and long enough for a happy amble along the river, meets the rivers edge in places and in other parts there are rocky climbs down to the water.

The river itself provides all sorts of excitement with smooth slides and water shutes, widening into an enclosed pool with steep rocky sides in the heart of the woodland. Magic!

The opposite bank rises up from the Afon Cwmere, planted with a mix of conifer and broadleaf, mainly Douglas fir, oak, birch and rowan and ash, all growing well, providing a healthy mixed woodland habitat for now, and potentially a valuable crop of Douglas fir looking into the future.

The woodland has an alternative access with a right of way granted over a track which is accessed via a gated entrance further along the road travelling westwards towards Bont-goch. This track allows for access to the top of the western bank of Coed Cwmere.

Both Aberystwyth and Machynlleth are within easy reach and both have good independent shops, cafes and restaurants and will cater for all supplies, both practical and pleasurable.

Just north of Mach is the fascinating Centre of Alternative Technology, so ahead of its time they were once thought of as a bit bonkers...! If only everyone had been so forward thinking.

Of course, much closer in Talybont are the Black Lion Hotel and the White Lion pub, for recuperation after a hard day's forestry!

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
