Llyn Adain Gwydd - Goose Wing Lake, Carmarthenshire - Almost 3¾ acres, £39,000

Llyn Adain Gwydd - Goose Wing Lake

Nestled in the valley of Llangarthginning with the Afon Cynin running close by, Llyn Adain Gwydd is set in the beautiful surroundings of Carmarthenshire's gentle hills.

The lake, fed by a spring running through neighbouring woodland covers about two thirds of an acre and is surrounded on all sides by about 3 acres of meadowland.

On the western side of the lake, the meadow extends to a line of established hedgerow, Goose Wing Lake's western boundary, on the other side of which runs the Afon Cynin.

Thickets of willow and hazel grow in small huddles around the undulating shore, providing plenty of cover and habitat for wildlife, both mammal and bird. Amongst the meadow grasses can be seen the entrances to many little burrows, evidence of field voles, perhaps ample food for the sparrowhawk seen flying over lake and meadow on several occasions.

A pair of greylag geese, as well as a number of other duck and wildfowl have been spotted on the lake. Greylag geese mate for life and breed in the UK so it is possible they will be rearing goslings here.

The access to the lake is excellent. A newly made stoned track runs directly from the gated entrance off the B4298, a very quiet minor road, along the eastern boundary of the land to a hardstanding area created at the northern end of the lake, where it is possible to park vehicles, all within easy walking distance and in view of the lake. It should be quite possible to park a camper van here and there is plenty of scope for making camp in the meadow.

Even though Llyn Adain Gwydd is only about 20 minutes' drive from Carmarthen - Wales' oldest town - with all amenities and bus and train connections and direct route to the M4, the absolute peace and quiet of its location is paramount. It feels a million miles from anywhere.

Please note: an adjacent small woodland (Coed Rhosglyn) is also for sale.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
