Newton Wood (Coed Newton) - SOLD, Carmarthenshire - 2 acres, £29,000

Newton Wood (Coed Newton) - SOLD
Newton Wood (Coed Newton) - SOLD
Carmarthenshire

A small and manageable broadleaf woodland, with a fast-flowing stream, near to the beach at Pendine.

A wonderful small woodland situated in a noticeably quiet rural area, but within a few miles of the A40. A large flat clearing near the entrance is separated from the wooded hillside, which makes up most of this woodland, by a small fast flowing stream. All the woodland the other side of the stream is designated as Ancient Semi Natural Woodland. This means that it has been continuously wooded for at least the last 400 years.

Trees

Newton Wood is a broadleaf woodland with a variety of species, particularly ash and oak. There are also a few hollies dotted around the woodland.

Features

There is a lovely handmade bench positioned in front of the stream, next to some quite remarkable giant rhubarb (not edible), which can also be seen dotted around the wood. Giant rhubarb originated in Brazil, and is regarded as invasive, but the single plant near the river has not spread at all in the last five years. A very solid bridge, based on two sleepers, provides access to woodland the other side of the river. As you cross the bridge you will be greeted with a clearing on your left, which is well sheltered by the canopy. This could be a great area for camping and other woodland based activities.

Access, tracks and footpaths

There is exceptionally good access into the wood, including a concrete hard standing in front of the entrance. There is plenty of space to park a campervan within the wood. There are no other vehicle tracks within the woodland.

Local area and history

The Boathouse in Laugharne, located only 4 miles away is where Dylan Thomas the famous poet wrote many of his successful pieces of work.

Pendine Sands is also only 4 miles away and is the site of several world land speed record attempts. The beach stretches for around seven miles and sits on the shore of Carmarthen Bay on the south coast of Wales.

The small town of St Clears is 3 miles away, where you will find a few local shops and eateries.

These plans and particulars were prepared by George Patey.
