SOLD: Bevan Wood £69,000 Freehold

  • Riddlesworth, Thetford, Norfolk
  • over 3 acres
  • East Anglia

Description

As you step into the wood, a tranquil ambiance envelopes your senses, instantly transporting you to a realm of serenity. The air is crisp, scented with the earthy aroma of damp leaves and the delicate fragrance of wildflowers. The towering trees create a natural canopy above, allowing only fragments of sunlight to filter through, casting dappled patterns on the ground. The gentle rustling of leaves harmonizes with the melodious chorus of birdsong, creating a soothing symphony that serenades your ears.

Now fully protected by our covenants a new owner has the joy of owning a woodland that will continue to thrive for generations.

The woodland has a good mix of trees and a carpet of bracken in the summer months. The bracken can be easily cleared and camping or picnic areas established.

Located under one hour's drive from Norwich and being only a short drive from the town of Thetford and Bury st Edmunds the woodland is easily accessible.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Trees

The wood is filled with mature trees. A large area was planted with Scots Pine that is now well grown and is a classic feature and typical of Norfolk woodlands. Located behind the entrance is probably the best asset of this attractive woodland and clearly shows its ancient roots. Here a large area of magnificent beech trees have flourished. These trees are naturally regenerating and will over time spread through the woodland.

Wildlife

If you approach the wood carefully you may be rewarded with a sighting of a deer.

A herd of red deer frequent the woodland and these along with resident roe and muntjac deer offer an opportunity to observe three of the six species of deer that inhabit the UK. On a recent visit a lone red hind stood barking ( a warning call to other deer ) at us before moving out of sight into the depths of Bevan Wood.

Deer are elegant, herbivorous mammals that inhabit woodlands. They are known for their graceful movements, long legs, and antlers (in males). Species like roe and red deer are commonly found in woodland areas.

The tree canopy hosts a variety of birds, these create a lively and captivating scene, adding colour, movement, and melodic sounds to the woodland environment.

Features

Bevan Wood is encompassed by other areas of private woodland. Located at the very northern end of a much larger wood which was originally part of Riddlesworth Estate.

Situated between Thetford and Diss the woodland straddles the Norfolk Suffolk border. It is comprised of conifer and mixed broadleaved trees. The principal species are Scots & Corsican pine and beech. The adjacent farmland is predominantly arable.

The woodlands are a dominant feature of the surrounding landscape. The majority of woodland soils in this area are deep well drained acidic sandy soils. A small path leads away from the wood entrance and ends in a small clearing next to an oak tree. This is a wonderful place to camp away from everything.

Access, tracks and footpaths

From the main gate you travel along a newly stoned track for nearly a mile through other areas of private woodland. Leaving the hustle and bustle of modern life behind, the track is suitable for most normal cars and the owner will have full vehicle access rights to the woodland.

The woodland is private with no footpaths within the woodland.

Activities

A perfect family wood, good for camping and numerous outdoor activities. Great childhood adventures could take place within this woodland creating memories that will last a lifetime.

For those seeking a tranquil retreat it could be ideal for meditation. The simple experience of being calm and quiet amongst the trees, observing nature around you whilst breathing deeply. Perhaps the ultimate remedy to todays World madness.
