Snedding – preparing logs with a chainsaw

By woodlandstv

Slow connection? Watch in lower quality

In the final part of the tree felling series David Rossney trims the limbs from the main trunk. Using the forester's measuring tape and chainsaw he then cuts the trunk into 2 metre lengths. http://woodlands.co.uk

IF you are a instructor WHY did you start your saw with your right hand ?

Have read the previous comments posted, I passed my CS30 last month and you must start the chainsaw as shown in the video (for hot starts only). However in the commercial environment speed must take over to actually get some production, but health and safety must still be taken into account.

Watch the bar when he begins "snedding" and imagine a rooting pig.

Logging sure is different everywhere ya go. We run those limby trees through the delimber and for the ones we can't we run big saw with long bars. it might be heavier but at least you don't have much of that infernal back breaking bending and reaching for long periods of time.
