Here we see Iain setting up and using an Iron Horse to extract timber from the woodland. This system is ideally suited to a small-scale woodland - the Iron Horse has agility and strength but low ground pressure so does less damage to the woodland floor; it also enables manoeuvrability within a dense woodland and helps both with loading and unloading the timber stack - especially if you are working alone to clear timber. I wish Id owned one in years past as I could have saved a lot of money by skidding logs out such as this instead of hiring helicopters to fly them out.

I think the original Iron Horse and Chore Horse was introduced 1930,s and mainly made of Iron for generating electricity and powering water pumps, washing machines and powering lights in milking sheds in the outback. Canada, Australia. George
That's a lot better than many of the other solutions out there!
Always felt that these needed operator platforms, to have your machine and workload engaged and traveling at the operator who is on foot in less than ideal terrain is scary. Is that a Jonsred?
Would love a shot! Have seen photos of them before but never noticed just how wide the tracks are.
