SOLD: Fairfield Meadow £89,000 Freehold

Description

Anglesey has long been a popular destination, renowned for its captivating and unspoilt natural beauty. Jagged headlands, sweeping shores and open countryside characterise this jewel in the North Wales crown. Fairfield Meadow sits within this landscape just outside the village of Valley, set just a short distance back from the sea and with views across the bay to Holyhead island. It is a place to which one can retreat and bask in the serenity and spectacular vista.

The land is accessed via an excellent stoned track which ensures vehicular access all year round to the meadow. An area of hardstanding in the south-west corner by the entrance provides a place to park a vehicle. From this point, the land very gently rises up in front of you in a northerly direction, reaching its highest point at the far hedgerow. From here, views can be enjoyed in all directions with a panorama of sea and mud flats to the west and north and neighbouring pasture to the south and east. The village of Valley can be seen in the distance. The land is boarded on all sides by well-established hedges containing gorse, hawthorn and other hedgerow species which offer both shelter and privacy, as well as important habitats for wildlife.

The meadow provides an ideal escape from everyday life, situated in a private location and within close reach of local beaches and coastal walks. The meadow is currently laid to grass having had a prior agricultural use as pastureland. In terms of conservation, a new custodian could consider pursuing rewilding, tree planting or wildflower meadow development – or indeed any combination thereof.

Fairfield Meadow would appeal to those with environmental, conservation and amenity interests who are looking for a quiet parcel of land to call their own in this special are of North Wales.

In terms of finding the meadow, when heading west on the A55 towards Holyhead leave at the Valley exit (junction 3) and head through the town on the A5, Holyhead Road. After passing the petrol station on your left hand side, take the second right – Gorad Road. Go straight on for circa 1km, passing a number of houses on your left hand side, at which point the road sweeps around to the right. The main entrance is just after this bend on the left hand side, demarcated by Woodlands signs. Park here and carefully climb the gate before walking up the stoned track for around 300m at which point Barley Meadow will be on your right hand side, immediately after the second hedge row you pass through.

The purchasers of the meadow will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Local area and history

Anglesey island is renound for its ancient history and prehistoric and Celtic remains. It is low and fertile in comparison to the relatively mountainous mainlaind of North Wales and hence has a rich agricultural history. Seafaring, trading and fishing have always been significant with Irish trading routes established early on before expansive networks opened linking North Wales with Europe and the wider world.
