SOLD: Rye Meadow £69,000 Freehold

Description

Rye Meadow is situated in Valley, just 175 metres inland from the attractive Anglesey coast line. It enjoys sea views across Holyhead Bay, with local beaches just a short distance from the meadow. The land is accessed via an excellent stoned track which is suitable for all year round vehicular access.

The meadow provides an ideal escape from everyday life, situated in a private location with sea views and well-established hedgerows forming all of the boundaries, which provide important habitats for wildlife. The meadow itself is down to grass, having had a prior agricultural use as pastureland. For those with rewilding interests, Rye Meadow presents a neatly contained opportunity for planting, perhaps in combination with the establishment of a wildflower meadow.

The land is divided into two useful sections, with the higher ground offering the best views out to sea, whilst the parcel of land situated lower down and closer to the sea offers excellent privacy and a secluded feel, making it an ideal spot for camping. The main entrance from the access track is in the south east corner of the upper section, whilst a gap in the hedgerow which cuts across the middle of the meadow provides access to the lower parcel. Each of the two sections are roughly 2 acres in size.

Rye Meadow would appeal to those with environmental, conservation and amenity interests who are looking for a private parcel of land to nurture and spend time on, leaving a legacy for future generations to enjoy.

In terms of finding the meadow, when heading west on the A55 towards Holyhead, leave at the Valley exit (junction 3) and head through the village on the A5, Holyhead Road. After passing the petrol station on your left hand side, take the second right – Gorad Road. Go straight on for circa 1km, passing a number of houses on your left hand side, at which point the road sweeps around to the right. The main entrance is just after this bend on the left hand side, demarcated by Woodlands signs. Park here and carefully climb the gate before walking all the way to the end of the access track, at which point the entrance to Rye Meadow is on your left hand side.

The purchasers of the meadow will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Local area and history

Anglesey island is renound for its ancient history and prehistoric and Celtic remains. It is low and fertile in comparison to the relatively mountainous mainlaind of North Wales and hence has a rich agricultural history. Seafaring, trading and fishing have always been significant with Irish trading routes established early on before expansive networks opened linking North Wales with Europe and the wider world.
