Building Wooden Country Stiles

By woodlandstv

Slow connection? Watch in lower quality

At the request of one of our viewers, we have returned to The Monday Group to learn more about how to make a country stile and see how their original stile has faired since we made the first film in 2014.

In this film by Hugh Allen, Jim Edwards talks through the work of The Monday Group. Founded in 1961, they are volunteer workers who build and maintain stiles, gates and other wooden structures on public rights-of-way in the heart of Sussex, as well as working to keep them passable and clear of overgrowth. Jim has now built 257 stiles (and counting!).
