Is their a lot of friction in the holes in the wood where they turn around the centre pieces and does the wood smoulder at those places? Because i guess they did not have decent bearings back then.

You rub a little wax or tallow on the centers before you put the workpiece in.

Переживал за безопастность мастера на скамье со Стугалом, без коданого или брезентового фартука или  деревянного нагрудного медальона. Ведь все правила безопастности уже написаны кровью наших предшественников. А ведь эти мастера которые учат ДОЛЖНЫ  быть предельно внимательными чему они учат, как говорится "мы ответственны за того кого приручили"
