Slow connection? Watch in lower quality

Tim Potts talks here at the Forestry Commission`s summer `Treefest` at Westonbirt Arboretum about his work specialising in the design and construction of timber-framed buildings. Tim outlines the various choices of timber for different construction purposes, touches on some of the building processes and highlights the advantages of using oak. He also speaks of the importance of the Carpenters` Fellowship training and qualifications in oak frame construction.

I am a portable sawmill owner/operator here in the U.S. and have worked on some timber frame projects. It's nice when a land owner has some timber to work with and knows what they're doing when embarking on a timber frame project. Sometimes if they have some timber that they want to use in their new house it can be incorporated in a non-critical area or as an ornamental addition.

Great video. I'd love to meet this bloke, but the pond is pretty big!
