Making a Stile

Slow connection? Watch in lower quality
`Monday Group` volunteer member Jim Edwards clearly and carefully takes us through the stages to make a specific stile from unseasoned solid green oak. Founder and Chair of the `Monday Group` - engineer Harold Rowling MBE, has improved upon his own original plans to design this particular model to ensure it has longevity and is user and installer-friendly.

You have to turn up the saw sound!! It doesn't quite overpower his faint voice…

In the USA we have a thick, lanolin based grease called Lanocote. It is quite thick, almost waxy and is often used in the marine industry. It is especially good at stopping dissimilar metal corrosion. It would work well in lieu of the grease which you used on the bolts, since it would not wash away, and would make less mess on the wood. Do you have a similar product in the UK?
