The Vatican ultimately retains ownership of all land after 'sale'. Along with all the planet's resources. Or so they tell themselves and their armies. This is probably a long time lease by another name. Ultimately if you want land then you just take it. Then defend it. That appears to be how it's really done. Only when we have land for self-sufficient living will we be free of the parasites at the top. Can't even have a long term caravan on most of these plots.
