Description: Sarrock Wood is a diverse woodland situated on the western side of the Stinchar Valley with fine views of the hills oppposite from various parts of the wood.  The trees are mainly young coppiced oak, beech and ash with hornbeam, sycamore, silver birch and some naturally regenerating larch, spruce and many young broadleaves. It is a very peaceful retreat for relaxing and pursuing forestry as a hobby. There are camping/parking areas at the edge and sheltered middle of the wood and a path links and winds through the oak and younger areas providing extensive internal access.  At 150m above sea level, the aspect is from the north through the east round to the south, and the land is well drained  with sufficiently deep soils on top of rock ensuring good tree growth. To the north a fast flowing burn tumbles through the woodland and further north is an archaelological feature - the old lime kiln built into the hillside.   Red deer browse, red squirrel forage and diverse bird life and flora flourish in the vicinity.   Moist grasses, ferns, bluebells, wild strawberries and brambleberries seasonally carpet the undergrowth.

Access: Is via a hard stone private shared track leading off the A714 over which there is a legal all-purpose vehicular right of access, shown green on the plans. There are 4 main accesses into Sarrock Wood off the new western track over which there is a right of access in favour of Sarrock Wood and a mainly forestry use access right in favour of the woodland bordering to the west.  Paths link the different access points through the sheltered middle of Sarrock Wood.
